Flag Hook Banner - Memories from the rafters... Cathedrals, even village churches draw me in. Their towers indicate the center of the town, their doors are always open, their insides spacious and restful. When passing through ancient port cities like Cadiz, Toulon, Brest, Genoa, Venice and so many others, I seek out the smaller sailor churches. They are adorned with votive ship models, made centuries ago by sailors as insurance for the perils of a journey to far and unknown lands. From the rafters of these ancient churches hang the tattered remains of old ships flags and pennants taken from ships conquered in now long forgotten battles.
