P39D Airacobra Model Plane

P39D Airacobra Model Plane - On September 13, 1940, 394 P-39Ds (Model 15) were ordered, the first Airacobra, which could be considered even remotely as being combat-ready. The first P-39D Airacobras entered service with the USAAC in February 1941, first with the 31th Pursuit Group (39th, 40th, and 41st Pursuit Squadrons) based at Selfridge Field, Michigan. The P-39D (along with the P-400) was the first to see combat in US service. The P-39D differed from the P-39C primarily in having a heavier armament.

Totally handcrafted display aviation models. These beautiful handmade authentic replicas are made from the very finest grade of select kiln-dried Philippine mahogany wood. The replicas are made entirely by hand, from the hand carving of the fuselage, wings and tail section - to the sanding of the aircraft's contours. Every part is assembled precisely into place using the highest quality adhesive available. After shaping and sanding, the model passes through several stages of priming and sanding before it is hand painted to duplicate the actual colors of of a selected historical aircraft. Artisans detail from researched reference materials, including all the insignias, squadron badges, nose art, emblems and serial numbers to replicate the original aircraft to scale. Wingspan 12.75 and Length 10.75.
