With four factories in Asia employing over 1000 craftsmen, Tall Model Ships is able to focus on building the highest-quality ships at incredibly low prices. Once the models leave the factories in Asia, they are sent to facilities in Los Angeles, California, or Gothenburg , Sweden, for final assembly and inspection.

Research
Tall Model Ships takes advantage of every available resource to insure that their models are authentic as possible including obtaining copies of the ship's original plans (if available), artist's renditions, and drawings, or when possible, they pay a visit to the original ship.
Design
Tall Model Ships uses specialized CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to draft a 3D image of the ship and a majority of the tiny wood pieces. This not only generates a rendering of the bulkhead and masts, but even details how each knot in the ropes should be tied.

Woods such as walnut, cherry, oak and teak, yellow siris, rosewood, light ebony, blackwood and others

Component Construction
Only the highest-quality woods available to make the various parts of each ship. This would includes cherry, birch, maple, blackwood, white lotus, walnut, rosewood, teak, yellow siris and light ebony, just to name a few. Many of the fine wood pieces by hand however, to reduce the time and cost required to make other wood pieces, a specialized laser cutter is utilized to perfectly cut exacting pieces every time.
Assembly and Inspection
Once they have made the necessary pieces (over one thousand for a majority of our models), they start construction. A specialized production process is utilized with experts at each stage. Every stage of production is carefully overseen to insure the highest level of quality. After an order is placed, each and every model is inspected before it is shipped to you. |
