Columbus discovered the Cayman Islands on his fourth and last journey across the waters of the world. When he found them, so many turtles swarmed over the rocks that the Caymans were originally named Las Tortugas or The Turtles. Little Cayman still abounds in life and is famous for its iguana population, as well as for the quality of its scuba diving.
