Model Yacht Dragon 1929

The first Dragon was built in 1929 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The sailing qualities of the Dragon are so good that the boat is practically used for cruising and regatta all over the world, and especially in Europe, where it has become extremely popular.

In the course of time, the dragon has gradually been changed into a regatta boat, and it is no longer built in accordance with the original specifications. Both the cabin and the canvas have been changed, so today it is actually only the hull, which is original.

In 1948 the Dragon was made an olympic class of boats, and all measures were stipulated by the International Yachting Union. Since 1929 this type of boat has participated in numerous Scandinavian and International regattas and it is still one of the most popular boats. This line of model ships is made by highly skilled craftsmen who work with remarkable precision using only the finest materials. These craftsmen have been trained for years to become Master Artisans. Hundreds of hours go into making each model, from the original lofting of plans to the finishing touches. Hull construction is either hand laid-up resin or plank on bulkhead with a selection of precious wood. Deck details are reproduced with custom-made brass and chromed brass castings. Hand sanded hulls are finished with marine varnishes and polyurethane paint.
