Or would you think of flying your plane with out wheels? Anyone in the right frame of mind can answer these rather simple questions. Now take the next one. Would you have lived thus far, since your evolution as mankind, without wheels? Well, this one calls for little more thinking before attempting to answer. If one is tempted to say in the affirmative, it is not without triggering more questions.

Sure, it would have been harder to live without wheels even in its primal form. It is not for nothing that the invention of wheel is still regarded as the best invention man has made till date. The untold part of the theory is a man isolated since birth, would first reinvent a wheel for his use. So much for the wheel!

The Wheel of Fortune

The primal wheel has perhaps taken longer than what is needed to evolve. Since the time Dunlop thought of introducing air to the wheel, to smoothen the run, the fortune of wheel itself has changed a lot and with it, of the humankind.

Most of the progressive activities have depended upon wheels. It facilitated quicker transportation in turn leading to quicker productivity and better living. More over, what is significant is, with every improvement made to the wheel, came following are more progress which later would have multiplying effect.

Wheel and Automobile

Wheels and automobiles are the two foundation stones of the world’s economic tractive forces. Like wheels automobiles have transformed the face of the economic scenario bringing about a whole new school of thinking to the fore. With access faster channels for progress, economy could think of newer avenues. Till the advent of new communication channels like telephone and later, the Internet, wheels alone fueled the progress.

Wheel Chair

Handicap wheel chair lifts come in a variety of sizes and models, and can be easily installed in vans, cars, buses and trucks. Some lifts are designed for wheelchair transport only. Other models are specifically developed to accommodate the wheelchair with the user sitting in it. Powered ramps are a form of vehicle lift and can be installed in a van to allow the wheel chair user to enter and ride comfortably (with appropriate chair tie-downs and seat belts).

It is difficult to think of a world, even in the farthest imaginative future, that wheels would be replaced by anything else. Nevertheless, till such times come, it is ‘no deals without wheels’.
